Kambo ceremony

What is Kambo?

Kambo is a secretion that is harvested from (Phyllomedusa bicolor) commonly known as the Giant leaf frog or Giant monkey tree frog which is native to the Amazon basin. Once the secretion is harvested it can either be used fresh or placed on small wooden sticks and dried for later usage. Kambo is non-psychoactive and legal in the U.S.

What are the benefits of using Kambo?

Kambo has extensive historical usage by the native peoples of the region for treating physical illnesses and spiritual ones as well. Such as "Panema" which translates as "Bad luck" which is caused by low vibrational energies in the body. These energetic patterns can accumulate in a persons energetic body and make a person feel anxious or experience low energetic levels. Other traditional applications are:

  • Female fertility and reproductive problems.

  • The treatment of snakebites and to sharpen the senses before going hunting.

  • Before Ayahuasca ceremonies to purge the body system. Due to some of the peptides in Kambo which increase circulation and facilitate the crossing of the blood brain barrier, thus making the Ayahuasca more rapidly absorbed into the blood stream.

Kambo is also commonly refereed to as "Natures Vaccine" due to its Antimicrobial actions and the many peptides it contains. Some of these peptides are "Bio active"and some are considered "Neuro-peptides", the peptides found in Kambo have a myriad of beneficial benefits in our bodies. Some of the illnesses Kambo is used for are:

  • Chronic pain

  • Anxiety

  • Cancer

  • Migraines

  • Fevers & Infections

  • Addiction

  • Depression

  • Infertility

  • Alzheimer's disease

  • Parkinson's disease

  • Vascular insufficiency

  • HIV & STD's

  • Organ diseases etc.......

One doesn't have to be in a state of dis-ease to work with Kambo! Kambo can be used to promote overall health and keep the body functioning at its best.

What should you expect once the Kambo is applied?

Kambo is applied directly to the body through small burn marks which are made on the first layer of skin known as "Gates", Typically 3 - 5 are made on the first time. As the secretion is applied it makes its way through the lymphatic system then into the blood system, which makes its way through the body. As the Kambo travels throughout the body, the body begins to release all sorts of physical toxins and energetic blockages that have been accumulated over years through a detoxification process.

As the Kambo is applied the initial effects are felt quite rapidly within 5-15 seconds. A sudden increase in heart rate is normal and expected, commonly followed by sweating, swelling of the face, lips and tongue also a uneasy feeling in the gut. Most people right about this time start to purge or may experience excessive sweating, excessive mucous production, may start to shake, may experience emotional releases and diarrhea. These are all quite normal experiences as the body cleanses it self on multiple levels such as the Mental, Physical and Spiritual. Some people may only experience one or a few of these detoxification processes, it depends on the individual and what he or she has accumulated. The amount of time this phase takes place for varies for each individual.

After the initial onset a sudden drop in blood pressure may occur as the body is trying to find homeostasis, a person typically feels weak, lethargic and cold which only last momentarily. This going up in blood pressure and coming back down in blood pressure can take place in once or a few times in waves, but this process usually only takes 10 - 20 minutes.

Also it is ok if a person does not purge or experience any of the detoxification processes. For example people typically come to the idea that they have to purge. Even though purging is effective and encouraged it isn't necessary, the Kambo peptides will still be working inside the body regardless of what effects take place externally. Some times a person needs multiple sessions to release those deep rooted toxins, like the peeling away of layers of an onion. The cleaner and healthier a person becomes the easier the Kambo experience may be.

As the first phase is coming to a end a person may feel weak and tired just wanting to rest. Laying down and taking time to recover is recommended. Drinking fluids with electrolytes after is important. The whole Kambo experience may only be 30 minutes - 1 hour initial onset and post recovery included but this may vary upon the individual and their health conditions. Mostly everyone is fine to drive and continue with the rest of their day after.

What takes place in a Kambo ceremony?

The first thing that takes place in a Kambo ceremony is a group introduction followed by individual intention setting, where we all take the time to sit silently and think about the things we wish to let go and our reason for sitting with these medicines and what we will manifest into our lives after.

What takes place next is the opening of sacred space. Followed by the application of Sananga which is optional which takes approximately 10 minutes.

Then the  Kambo burn marks "Gates" will be made. After the gates are made 1 - 2 cups of Cassava which is a traditional Yucca drink will be drunk, Cassava is a alternative to water and safer than drinking large amounts of water rapidly. Water is optional. After the Cassava is taken the Kambo will be applied.

Once a person goes fully through the Kambo experience and is in the post recovery phase Hape will be offered which is also optional.

Lastly we will close ceremony.  Once a person feels well and recovered enough they may leave when they are ready.

Within a Kambo sessions Hape and Sananga are available, but optional

What is Hape?

Hape/ Rape pronounced "Ha-pey" is a traditional sacred shamanic snuff that is used commonly in various parts of the Amazon, Brazil and South America which plays a vital role in many tribes culture and history, used as a form of prayer and intention setting. They're are many blends of Hape each with its own effects and used for different purposes, ranging from mild, grounding and relaxing to strong and visionary. The main ingredient used in Hape is Mapacho (Nicotiana rustica) which is a very powerful sacred tabacco commonly used for healing and ceremonial purposes. Also added is ashes from different kinds of trees that add their own properties into the blend and balance out the Mapacho. Different kinds of powdered plants are added as well depending on the purpose of a specific blend. The making of Hape is a sacred and lengthy process which many tribes do with a open heart. As the Hape is being made they're imbuing the blends with energy through prayers, songs and clear intentions. Some tribes even have designated Hape makers. Traditionally Hape is used for:

  • To help focus and sharpen the mind.

  • "Panema" which translates as "Bad luck" which is caused by low vibrational energies in the body. These energetic patterns can accumulate in a persons energetic body and make a person feel anxious or experience low energetic levels.

  • To clear the sinuses of mucus and bacteria, helping with respiratory ailments and flu.

  • To ground oneself and emotions

  • To open the Third Eye and enhance ones inner vision.

  • They're also many other beneficial properties depending on the blend of Hape.

Hape is administered up the nose either with a Kuripe (for self administration) or with a Tepi (for the administration of another person). The experience of receiving Hape can be quite intense and surprising, with the effects one might feel varying with each blend.

What is Sananga?

Sananga is a traditional medicine used in the form of eye drops that are extracted from the roots of the Tabernaemontana genus of plants. Depending on the tribe preparing the Sananga different ingredients are added and different species of the genus will be used. The Matses tribe use (Tabernaemontana undulata) which they call "Becchete". In the Ticuna and Kaxinawa tribes another species is used (Tabernaemontana sananho) called "Kunakip" which is said to be gentler than the undulata species. Sananga is used traditionally for:
